一道本不卡免费高清Dear SXU Community,

一道本不卡免费高清As autumn colors drift away in cold winds, this week in November prompts gratitude as the path to Thanksgiving opens our minds and hearts to the bounty that is ours. This Thanksgiving gives us special pause as we continue to be aware of the 175th anniversary of the Sisters of Mercy arrival in America. At this very time 175 years ago, a young Mother Frances Xavier Warde and small company of Sisters were on the good ship Queen of the West having set sail on November 10 from Liverpool. They were four weeks and two days at sea, landing in New York on December 11, 1843. Then, another 60 hours on stage coach until they arrived in Pittsburgh on December 20 marking the foundation of the Sisters of Mercy in the United States. Remembering their daring and wholeheartedness for mission adds a dimension of gratefulness for one another as we continue to forge forward in their footsteps.

一道本不卡免费高清Our time, of course, is different from their time. Yet, their spirit of dedication to vision, desire to make a difference and willingness to sacrifice for sake of service remain at the center of who we are and want to be as a University community.

一道本不卡免费高清True to their valor and values, we continue to trust in the One whose generosity overmatches our gratitude. In a time where far too many go hungry and walk in caravans carrying hope of a new homecoming, let us remember to reach from our bounty and privilege and do one more act of mercy in memory of our dauntless founders and their faith.

I wish each of you a bountiful Thanksgiving table surrounded by friendship and family.

Best Regards,

Laurie M. Joyner, Ph.D.
