Dear Colleagues,

SXU Welcomes Dan Klotzbach as VPFA/CFO

I am pleased to announce that Daniel Klotzbach has accepted the offer to serve as Vice President for Finance and Administration/Chief Financial Officer (VPFA/CFO) beginning on December 11, 2017. Based on his exceptional credentials, extensive experience and passion for the mission of Saint Xavier University, Klotzbach rose to the top of an impressive candidate pool.

Klotzbach comes to Saint Xavier having served as vice president for Business and Finance at Illinois Wesleyan University for 13 years. Prior to this position, Klotzbach served in a number of leadership roles at Edgewood College (Wis.), Mount Mary College (Wis.) and Houghton College (Ny.). He earned his bachelor's degree from the State University of New York at Geneseo and his MBA from St. Bonaventure University.

The depth of Klotzbach's financial experience, his commitment to mission, and his interest in making a difference in the lives of others as well as the institutions he has served are obvious to those who had the pleasure to interact with him. I look forward to welcoming Dan to the senior leadership team and working with him on our strategic challenges and opportunities. I know we stand ready to welcome Dan to our community.

一道本不卡免费高清Special thanks to the students, faculty, staff members, senior team members, alumni and Board of Trustee members who participated in the search process and provided valuable input. I am most grateful to the members of the search committee including: Mr. Nick Mancari (Graham School of Management), Dr. Angela Pirlott (CAS Faculty), Ms. Terry Miller (Nursing Faculty), Ms. Erin Mueller (Advancement), Dr. Faisal Rahman (Administration), Dr. Julie Reinhart (Faculty Senate), Ms. Sue Swisher (Financial Aid), and Ms. Katy Thompson (Student Affairs). Along with Dr. Oscar Page (AGB Search), the search committee did an excellent job building a highly qualified pool and bringing two exceptional candidates to campus.

一道本不卡免费高清I am also extremely grateful to Bob Fisher for his service to SXU. Bob will transition out of his position on December 8; he will remain available to Dan to ensure a smooth transition through the end of the calendar year. A farewell reception will be planned for Bob in the not-too-distant future. Please join me in thanking Bob for his years of dedicated service to SXU.

Preliminary 2018 Enrollment Update

一道本不卡免费高清For the second consecutive year, the University is seeing declines in freshmen applications. We're down 10 percentage points from 2017 and 22 percentage points from 2016. The Office of Admission is implementing several key initiatives to close this application gap, including the addition of digital marketing, more program-specific visit events, expanded travel and high school visits with two additional admission counselors. Our Admission Team has also facilitated the University to become part of The Common Application, a website that allows first-time freshmen to conveniently and efficiently apply to Saint Xavier University through a single application.

一道本不卡免费高清Although the above efforts have helped to increase freshmen application activity, recent forecasts estimate that the final admission pool for 2018 freshmen could be down by 200-400 students. It is clear to members of our enrollment team that local competition for a dwindling number of prospective students is on the rise. Our success with recruitment will depend upon academic programs that give us a competitive edge as well as a larger inventory of adult-friendly programs that taps into the only segment of the market expected to grow during the next five years.

Call for Honorary Degree Recipients

Students, faculty and staff are welcome to participate in the nomination process. All nominees must specifically reflect the mission and core values of the University and the Sisters of Mercy.
